Starter and Bendix Drive Polaris UTV ATV Scrambler Sportsman 325 330 400 450 500 3084981 Review

First, the only reason its not a 5 star, was because it was not 100% identical to Polaris OEM. This was for a 2001 Sportsman 500 H.O. RSE. I completely disassembled both the starter and bendix to compare to the failed OEM units. Bendix appears , measures, fits and weighs identical to OEM. The only thing I cannot verify is the metal quality. The starter had only 1 noticeable difference and that was the epoxy coating on the copper windings, it was ever so slightly less than OEM and a thinner coating of clear rather than milky white for the OEM. The spindle shaft and windings were only a smidge lighter- >1oz., but the copper was still the same gauge. Brushes and mounts were identical and other than a little casting difference inside the housing the casing was too. All seals were good, the needle bearing was a Tenken. Fitment and O-ring seal was perfect. Starts good so far, only 3 days in now. 5-28-12. For the price you can't go wrong, and I was very skeptical. So far I would recommend. In no way does the part appear or feel cheap, and had I not had an OEM torn apart to compare, you would never know. Shipping from DSA was right on time or a day early , and it looks EXACTLY as pictured.
