Maier Mfg GP Sport Fairing - Large - Round 005010 Review

First off, it arrived on time and in perfect condition. After doing A LOT of research on quarter-fairings, it was tough to find one with the look I wanted to fit my specific motorcycle. It was even more difficult to find a picture of my model sporting this type of fairing. So, in other words, after much debating I gambled on this one.
In short, the gambled paid off! I've been doing a lot of mods to "black out" my bike, including mounting this fairing. To be absolutely fair, the instructions are crap. You do a lot of figuring out and a lot of adjusting. I had to remove my light bar and relocate my turn signals (which I eventually replaced with low profile LEDs).
But, it looks great. Even better, it works great! I've spent the first 5,000 miles on my cruiser with no fairing, no windshield, no protection (other than a helmet) - so, if there is going to be a difference, I'll know it. I just didn't realize how much of a difference it was going to make in the ride. And the difference is awesome!
This little fairing, believe it or not, takes the brunt of the wind and all the pressure off my chest and torso. I can still feel and hear the wind, but comparitively speaking, they are more like breezes at freeway speeds instead of violent gusts hitting me from all sides. Yes, it's even quieter behind this fairing. It's completely changed the feel of my ride for the better. I can only imagine the pocket of peace a full windshield would bring, but I didn't want a giant acrylic tombstone-shaped wall destroying the beautiful lines of my ride. This fairing is actually a nice compliment to my bike. With my latest mods (fairing included) many people now find it difficult to figure out what I'm riding. But that's what it's all about, isn't it? Personalizing your motorcycle and making it yours.
In the end, if it weren't for the crappy instructions, this product would have received 5 stars. But, I'm glad I got it!
