Battery Protector (T1) - 12V Review

The good news: it works. My wife & daughter are in the habit of leaving minivan doors open and interior lights on, and thus draining the battery. After half a dozen early-morning jumpstarts I decided to try this, and it works as advertised.

The bad news: installing was kind of a pain in the butt. I managed to install it with the included parts but I should have just gone to the parts store for a longer ground cable.

The parts included various jumpers & extensions that had lots of bare metal. I used these on the positive battery connection, and didn't feel comfortable leaving them uninsulated. I used "liquid electrical tape" that i bought at my local hardware store; it's much like plasti-dip that i've seen used for tool handles. maybe even the same stuff.

Worse, when the battery finally died last winter, one of the metal brackets cracked while I was tightening it, so i wasn't able to reinstall it without a trip to the store, which i haven't gotten around to yet...really should have just bought that longer cable in the first place.

First off... they are hard to get used to and they are slippery with regular riding gloves. (get gloves with awesome silicon grips ALL OVER the palm and fingers).

Installation: if you know what you are doing installation should only take about 20-30 min.

If you have larger hands these might be iffy. They are a slimmer grip. If you look closely at the picture you can see the concave toward the center of the grip.

As with all grips, I advise using some sort of adhesive spray, especially on the clutch side. The allen screws are there, but they are not nearly enough. I was riding to work one day and the grip slid off as I was bringing the front wheel back down because I did not spray enough glue. Took it home, sprayed a lot more glue and NEVER had another issue.

Like I said, they are hard to get used to because of the lack of grip. But they look great.

New Motorcycle LED Tail Light For Yamaha YZF-R1 2000-2001,Yamaha FZ1 2001-2005 Clear Review

Got this thing a few days ago and honestly it was a breeze to install. I'm not a wrench monkey so I was a little worried about doing it, but all you do is screw it in place of the old one and plug it into the tail light socket for the brake lights. Then there are 2 wires remaining for the left and right blinkers (uses tail light ground). I crimped on 2 connectors and they plugged into the existing harness. This literally took 20-30 minutes to install.

The LED lights are bright and they shine through the smoked plastic quite brilliantly, especially at the angle from which cars will be behind you. I was worried about that, but now am glad I got it.

Recommend getting the LED blinker relay to bring it back down to the standard flash speed. I purchased the "Lockhart Phillips LED Turn Signal Flasher Relay" and just replaced the stock one with it and got my blinker speed back to normal. The kit does comes with the load resistors and quick wire connectors, but I didn't use them, the relay was much easier to do (especially for 14 bucks).

I can't say anything about the longevity of the product as I have only had it a few days. I will probably edit this if it breaks any time soon. I will try to upload the video I took of it in use.

The only down side to this is that when the blinker is on the other break light seems to dim slightly. Though still bright it may bother the perfectionist in you. I still rate it a 5 because it was cheap, easy to install, and looks great.

Vance & Hines Shortshots Staggered Exhaust System - Black, Color: Black 47219 Review

I ordered these exhaust pipes from my 2012 Harley Davidson Iron 883.

They are beautiful pipes.

The seller processed my order very fast :D AND shipped them as quickly as the post office would allow!

I can not speak highly enough about how fast the seller was AND how awesome the pipes are.

The pipes came neatly packed in a large box and the pipes were wrapped up.

Installation was a breeze. Now my bike has a voice! I highly recommend them, especially since they are the flat black with the hint of chrome. Though they are popular for the Iron because both are flat black.

I didn't not change the air filter or add anything else. I do not get any back firing. I have been riding with the new pipes for a couple weeks and I don't hear any backfiring or go through gas anymore than I used to! Amazing! Just amazing!
