Xelement Mens 2 Piece Black and Yellow Motorcycle RainsuitXelement Mens 2 Piece Black and Yellow Motorcycle Rainsuit Review
This seems to be a fairly decent quality rain suit - the material selection and stitching is sufficiently robust, while remaining flexible and light. It includes some nice touches, such as a double-faceted water barrier for the main jacket zipper, and zip-out flares at the bottoms of the legs to accommodate a booted foot.I've experienced two problems with the suit so far (I've only worn it three or four times on my commute, for a total of perhaps 100 miles):
1. The jacket's mesh lining is not well secured in the forearm area, and has a tendency to prolapse out the end of the sleeve when a gloved hand is passed through. It's a real pain to try to put it back in, as the mesh material is thin and light and the cuff of the jacket has a strong elastic band sewn into it. A stitch half way up the forearm would have likely prevented this issue; although, every row of stitching is another potential leak.
2. The sizing chart (available on the vendor's website) seems inaccurate. I'm 6' 4" tall with a 42" waist and a 34" inseam - the 3XL suit fits the girth of my torso and limbs adequately, but it's too short. I'm wearing a basic leather jacket manufactured by First Classics under the suit, in conjunction with Dickies double-knee work pants (which are not of any appreciable bulk, unlike true riding pants,) and Alpinestars SP-1 gauntlet-style gloves. When I don the suit and stand in place, it seems to fit well; however, mounting the motorcycle (a standard seating position - BMW R1150R) pulls the pants and jacket cuffs entirely above my boots and gloves, respectively.
All in all, not a bad suit for the money. I just wish they'd offer it in 3XL-Tall and fix up the shoddy, annoying jacket liner.
